Plantando Plantones y Aromaticas

Hoy tuvimos la suerte de recibir una variedad de plantones del ayuntamiento de Madrid listos para plantar! Nos mandaron: Lechuga, Remolacha, Cebollinos, Tomates, Calabacines y Pimientos.

Today we were fortunate to receive a variety of seedlings from Madrid City Council, ready to plant! They sent us: Lettuce, Beetroot, Chives, Tomatoes, Courgettes (or Zuchinis) and Red Peppers!

Los Padres del Huerto explicando lo que vamos a hacer a la Clase de Primaria

Primero, para el Romero y Santolina, preparamos la tierra, moviendola con las palas y asegurando que los hoyos estaban suficientemente profundos y distanciados para plantar las aromáticas.

First, we prepared the soil for the Rosemary and Santolina, moving it with our trowels and digging holes deep enough and well spaced out to plant the aromatic herbs.

Para los plantones de Lechuga, Remolacha, Cebollinos, Tomates, Calabacines y Pimientos, movimos la tierra, y aplanamos la tierra, con espacio suficiente para hacer los hoyos, con la manilla de la pala.

For the Lettuce, Beetroot, Chives, Tomatoes, Courgettes (or Zuchinis) and Red Pepper seedlings, we mixed up the soil and flattened it to make lots of holes, spaced out evenly, with the handle of the trowel.

Luego sacamos los plantones de los semilleros con mucho cuidado porque son muy frágiles, los empujamos en los hoyos y los cubrimos con tierra para que crezcan fuertes.

Then we very carefully took out the fragile seedlings from the seed trays, pushed them into the holes, and covered them with soil, so that they grow nice and strong!

Regando el huerto al Final

Con un poco de agua cada semana junto con el sol los plantones cresceran mas grandes y fuertes en su nueva casa.

With a bit of water every week together with the sunshine, the seedlings will grow bigger and stronger in their new homes.
